The inaugural issue of world’s first exclusive women’s cricket magazine ‘CRICZONE’ was released in India with Indian team vie-captain Smriti Mandhana featuring as the cover story. The event was attended by top international cricketers such as Harmanpreet Kaur, Smiriti Mandhana, Mithali Raj and also by overseas players like Sophie Devine and Danielle Wyatt.
Saba Karim, BCCI’s GM (Cricket Operations) said that the T20 Challenge tournament has been a learning curve for the apex cricket body in country. It has been a learning curve for BCCI in many ways. We have come to know about the talent pool available in country and many more such things. We are pondering over how to take women’s cricket forward. The possibility of full-fledged women’s IPL too is open and the number of teams and the modalities has to be still worked on.
“For us publishing Women’s ‘CRICZONE’ Magazine has been a natural progression.” Yash Lahoti, The publisher of the magazine, said.
The Criczone stories will seek to empower young aspiring women cricketers to take the sport as a profession and able to make sustainable living. It is a one stop solution, exclusively dedicated to providing updates, articles, news, interviews etc. from the world of women’s cricket. It was launched on the sidelines of the inauguration of upcoming women’s T20 challenge.
